The Ukrainian refugees are coming in to my country right now in droves. They are all warmly welcomed by everyone. People open up their homes for them; climbing over each other to give them food and clothes, toys for the children and so on. I don’t really get the appeal that the “free western democracy” has on anybody anymore. Russia aren’t going to use conscripts from Syria, they don’t need to. Syrian soldiers make $250 to $550 a year, and Russia is offering $1100 a year to any Syrian with military experience who signs up to fight for them in the Ukraine. The Russians have received 40,000 applications from Syrians already.
Hopefully that means they won’t be pulling troops from anywhere else.
