Anybody else notice the return of cabover trucks? Not just as the ultimate mmBig truck plaything, actually working hauling everything livestock reefer flatbed ect? What does that say about the state of the industry, that new trucks are so expensive people are dusting off relics instead?
There are so many ways to get screwed as a trucker. You could have a lucrative load one way, then you’re in Bumfuq County with nothing to truck back the other way. You could break down in Asswhype County, and have to pay thousands just to be towed, tens of thousands on repair, probably lose the gig for being late. And when you dock and think the job is done, receiving could take 8 hours for which you earn nothing.
Here’s the boomer in me. All the talk of truckstops made me nostalgic for the older, whiter America I knew decades back. Starting in the 1970’s when I was in the Army, I’ve driven across the country many times. I was in a car, but I always stopped at the truck stops. This might be an unpopular take, but I prefer this show without callers. Mike and Warren generate interesting discussions by themselves and the goofy shitposty atmosphere of a call-in show works better when Jesse or Borzoi are on.

It seems to me that any oppressive regime throughout history must have had a certain percentage of the population, probably very large, that supported the system. Big corps have been buying out and inflating the price of trucks and trailers making it near impossible to become an owner operator. Now… a lot of these mega corps are jewish owned and ultimately are also replacing white drivers with their worlders and lowering standards of testing for the CDL, which in turn causes danger on the road. Basically making it harder and harder for independent drivers and smaller companies to get ahead.
