I remember The Fifth Path fanzine interview with Foetus in the early 1990s; unintentionally funny as the fanzine was implicitly WN/NS and was asking questions trying to figure out if Foetus was also implicitly WN/NS or some other kind of secret radical, but basically Foetus reveals he was just being edgy in his imagery—shitposting in effect.

Foetus (Jim Thirwell) were quite good. Then he started using a lot of North Korean imagery on his album covers when North Korea wasn’t based. I liked Wiseblood – Dirtdish better. Didn’t he do a song with Voivod (who are extremely leftist now)?

Anime is weird and no matter how many times I try to understand it, I can’t. Tried Berserk (my favorite game, Dark Souls, is loosely based on it apparently). Tried Gantz (after watching the cool CGI Netflix version)….
The dialogue is always bizarre, and the women…..All of the women are voiced and drawn like they’re sex objects. Men who find cartoons are attractive are peak weirdo in my opinion.
Not saying that’s you at all. Just explaining why It’s not for me, even though I am a big game/fantasy guy.
It’s a couple of things I think. First it appeals to a certain type of person, you’re either that type or you’re not. Then it’s how young/impressionable a person is and how much exposure to it they get. An adult or someone not of that type will probably never ‘get’ anime. People really into anime are weird but I think we would have been weird anyway, if not this then something else.

honestly Berserk takes some time to get drawn into it. Also idk if you started with the series from the 90s but that’s a better way to start Berserk.
