Sean McMeekin is very interesting historian who should definitely be explored more by TRS. If you go through more of his recorded talks on YouTube you will definitely see him play fast and coy with audiences when discussing the oddities surrounding WWII. The fastidiousness of his tone is always hilarious.
Regarding the gruesome “eyewitness” accounts from Lodz, I don’t think we should apply the same skepticism to tales of Bolshevik atrocities that we apply to tales of German atrocities. If you read Hans Roth’s memoir: “Eastern Inferno: The Journals of a German Panzerjäger on the Eastern Front, 1941–43” he recounts coming upon the same kinds of horrific scenes in the cities liberated by his unit in the early days of Barbarossa.
I’m new to TRS – not familiar with this one particular term. I’m listening to the MP3. At about 3hr 8mins Mike says what sounds like “naxault” talking about the logic of “not all.” What is “naxault” or whatever?? I think we can all agree that Stalin was a bad dude, but he wasn’t like, fucking Churchill or something.
