Siouxsie & the Banshees got in trouble for a lyric about Jews in one of their early songs Love in a Void but so much of it – like the “satanism” – is just being transgressive
Yeah kind of like we were discussing how some punk musicians wore Swastika armbands, Iron Crosses, etc.
Thanks Striker and Gaius.
Great People’s Square Episode! 👍🏻
Thanks pal! o/
written version of visual meme:
anime guy holding up butterfly with music from the beginning imposed over it: “is this black metal? it doesnt sound like utter shit”
head turned to the side hero: “No. NS Black Metal”
female wojak: “Really?”
This episode means a lot to me you guys. I’ve always loved metal, especially black metal. There’s so many bands where I have to force myself to not listen to the lyrics if I want to enjoy it. Thank you for keeping it alive!
That’s a big goal is to have lyrical content relevant to our movement, our ethics, our history and about strength, nobility and honor! Glad you are onboard borther! Stay tuned!
Outstanding my fren,…there are a number of obviously crypto NS bands like Minenwerfer that feel like they have to disguise their beliefs, or Satanic Warmaster who flat out deny it while still writing the lyrics you see in My Dreams Of 8. We need this platform.
The Nuclear Blast owner isn’t the same Marcus Staiger you’re thinking of, there are two German guys with the same name. One is definitely antifa and also a white rapper. The actual NB owner is some normie as far as I can tell.
I believe he is a liberal sort of Christian, maybe in the more leftist side of things but not radical Antifa no
I agree. What I ment by normie was money focused modernist. I combed through his Twitter and some interviews a few years ago, couldn’t find anything political at all. Mostly business and album promotion stuff. It’s an easy mistake to make when two guys have the exact same name.
Lol well I realize Black Metal is not for everyone, but plenty of other stuff in the metal sphere for you to listen to borther. I like old school stuff but it’s boring to play for me as a creative outlet imo. I’m a lifer with what I do, it means a lot to me. I don’t quite agree with your opinion, but I respect it! HH o/
hit up XIV Sacred Words and Green Arrows
Sound quality is perfect for the subject matter. Meta as fuck. Jokes aside, that first song sounds awesome, very epic sounding. I’m a big metal fan, but I am mostly into the more “mainstream” bands and sounds (trad metal, power metal, some melodeath, etc.). I would be curious to hear more of these nationalists bands, but I’m worried at this point I couldn’t hear the difference between a national socialist band and an antifa band. Anyhow, great topic for a show. P.S. I don’t know if anybody goes on the Metal Archives forums, but I swear that every time NSBM… Read more »
Metal Archives is run by shitlibs/leftists in Canada yes
Hit me up via the email on the show notes anytime if you have questions about bands etc.
A few things…
Remember, it was eventually discovered the owner of Nuclear Blast was not that antifa character.
To my knowledge, neither Graveland or Nokturnal Mortum describe themselves as NSBM any longer, although NM apparently do still play NSBM fests, considering that is the bulk of their fan base that would only make sense… Hard to say.
Re: Sunwheel.
Militant Zone (Ukraine) has done the recent release, or possibly a reissue.
Yeah that’s the case is a lot of the bands do not or have ever explicitly stated that they are NSBM. You do see it especially the older bands like Graveland, Nokturnal Mortum, and Burzum would even be a bit more distant, but they are definitely grandfathered in. Most leftists/Antifa would consider all of these bands Nazis regardless. They are certainly related to that scene. I mean the whole Polish scene was very much Nationalistic and anti-Semitic. Fudali/Darken did a lot of work with other bands like Fullmoon for example (who released the classic United Aryan Evil demo). Sort of… Read more »
Death in June has been just Douglas Pearce (the gay guy) since the 1990s; he now lives in Australia and still produces new material but his peak was definitely the 1990s and early 2000s. He started out as an anarchist but his attraction to the “extreme right” went beyond just Nazi imagery. He doesn’t get blatantly political and makes everything ambiguous but he’s basically pro-white from some kind of third position or Strasserite perspective. Tony Wakeford left Death in June, briefly joined the BNP and had a band named Above the Ruins, before he cucked out, and left the BNP,… Read more »
Thanks for this info and clarification!
I was a big fan of Boyd Rice and Michael Moynihan in the 90s. At the time, they were both referring to themselves as “occult fascists”, in that they saw the Movement as a failure and wanted to create an alternative music scene that promoted NS spirituality without being overtly political. At that time, the skinhead scene had already peaked in the mainstream culture and was being suppressed, so they started using more obscure NS symbolism, like runes and the totenkofts, and referencing Alfred Rosenberg instead of Mein Kampf.and using the swastika. It seemed to be working until they’d try… Read more »
Yeah I recall that as well “Occult Fascists” and of course even leaked into the CoS in the late 80’s. Boyd ultimately dismissed all of it as aesthetic eventually
If you are into late 80s/early 90s zines I would recommend The Fifth Path — they were only around for a few years but covered this scene very well. I met the editor once in Northern California circa 1992. Jim Goad’s Answer Me! Is also a good zine from this era. You could actually buy these zines in mainstream places like Tower Records which would be unthinkable today.
I borrowed the Answer Me Compendium Book from a friend years ago! I never heard of The Fifth Path. Thanks for the intel!

Doing a quick google search, looks like I could get a few bucks for my copies of The Fifth Path if I still have them in storage somewhere. Robert Ward was the editor. I think I read somewhere that he’s been dead for a couple of decades now so he died young. He was into industrial music, NS, WN, paganism, etc but also satanism and serial killers so he was an edgy boi—possibly as a kind of “irony bro” camouflage. Amusingly a lot of his interviews with musicians appears to be him trying to tease out whether said musician’s edgy… Read more »
I think a lot of the Satanism and True Crime/Serial Killer stuff was kind of at the Vanguard of outside culture in the late 80’s and 90’s. I don’t think they were legit Satanists but more of the edgy Athiest LaVeyan styled ones for sure but it was seen as very cool for underground music practitioners to be into that sort of stuff. I guess Black Metal was just a further romanticism of all of that but it was more compatible with Nationalist and Pro European themes than a lot of the industrial and neofolk music was. This is probably… Read more »
Yes, I remember the Fifth Path! In the early 90s I wrote a letter to Michael Moynihan, asking him about his views on race, and he mailed me back a copy of his interview from the Fifth Path.
My mom was a witness to the MLK riots in Memphis as they happened. Shops were destroyed, White women were raped, and property destroyed.
Yeah sorry about the audio issue, wasn’t hearing it on my end so think it was a Skype issue but thanks for people who could hang in there with it. I hope to return with better audio for you guys in some form or another
The guest’s audio is brutal, tons of scratching. Striker sounds good. Convo is great, hope you guys can fix in post maybe?
