Nearly all big tech platforms use Oracle databases which use SQL exclusively. Microsoft SQL Server is just a tool not the language.
Simply, no. Microsoft SQL Server is far more than a tool it’s an entire DB system, and SQL is literally the language.
Structured Query Language = SQL.
Both companies use the SQL language and both are relational DB’s but that’s where the similarities stop. Oracle is not using Microsoft products to run its DB’s and vice-versa.
I know what SQL stands for lol – I’ve probably been writing it longer than you have. The words “Microsoft SQL Server” never also came out of my mouth. Yeah that got under my skin a tad – sql server is a product name from microsoft whereas oracle’s is just named ‘oracle’ with the occasional moniker of either 10g or 11g.

Sql server, Oracle, sybase, db2, all different RDBS platforms. They just just SQL as the coding language to interact with it…NNNGUY.
And, Facebook doesn’t use either. They use a combo of MySQL and MongoDB.
