I find it hard to believe that a scientifically advanced civilization wouldn’t have left some kind of durable records. Perhaps there was a civilization on par with Rome, Han China, or even Europe immediately before the industrial revolution.

I dunno much about Kurt Vonnegut, but he wrote the perfect short story summing up what we now call “Equity” called Harrison Bergeron where everyone with a natural talent or ability is brought down to the level of the lowest common denominator via contraptions that either make it hard for them to think or make them physically weaker, etc. Had to read that in school. I wonder if that book is hatespeech now.
