I worked retail full-time in the 1990s. The salary wasn’t great, but the position included insurance, matching 401(k), stock options, generous merch discounts, a monthly store credit, and maybe (I can’t quite remember) some paid time off. This wasn’t much more than some basic bitch corporate store job. I can’t imagine globohomocorps offering anything like this today.
