Banks — not a “dog” but a dogsbody as the Brits call it,
The female editor was my favorite unsympathetic character. Reminds me of some of the media personalities Moike has clashed with on recordings he made circa 2017 or thereabouts. This type is one reason why I rejected journalism as a career early in life back in the 1980s. Thoroughly disingenuous and despicable types.
Moike, Walden wasn’t warning Alexander about “low flying aircraft” or drones; he was warning him not to take any flights on small aircraft.
There have been a number of people who have died in mysterious crashes of small aircraft. The anti-war Senator Wellstone in 2002 for example.
Had the book for a week, was less than half way through it, so I stayed up late this morning and finished it! Excellent read. Speaking as a lapsed Christian who is more sympathetic to paganism, I’m not embarrassed to say the scene at the top of Mt. Calvary made my eyes tear up a little. Someone from a non-Christian religion like Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc. might not have agreed with the theology but they would have at least understood the emotional reactions of the audience. Not so our journalist friend. The Ancient Greeks called it catharsis and they had… Read more »
Just finished the book. Very very good book. I loved the melancholic tone of the end where Christianity is betrayed yet again despite the better instincts of everyone at camp Hope, specially Justine It is amazing to read a book where fundamentalist christians are not portrayed negatively but at the same time truthfully. It is so refreshing. Another detail about the food is, at least for me, how the food is so good and wholesome. I think Rob at some point was surprised by this. It is a very subtle detail but it speaks volumes to what rural and good… Read more »
I’m behind on my reading and must admit I haven’t even read Borzoi’s book yet. I do feel pangs of guilt even listening, but both AH titles are on my short list along with that snazzy book about my favorite uncle. Marty makes this point about anti-consumerism being at the heart of viable resistance, and this is something I agree with and have opined about for a long time. Within the context of that idea, when you guys were talking about collapse and mentioned doomsday preppers, it got me thinking about how that type of collapse preparation, —which anticipates a… Read more »
These elements of the novel you agonize over for perhaps being too “hipster” or reddit… They are none of the above. You’re talking about symbolism and dramatic ambiguity. All part of the noble craft of writing. Marty has rediscovered literature and the hosts are reinventing literary analysis. It only seems “hipster” because those foul people have monopolized the profession —where in 1993— American culture crawled off to die.
Self-reflection inducing podcast.
Just ordered a copy. I’ll CIRCLE BACK to this once I’ve gotten and read it.
I just bought a copy as well.
Hypermarty.mp3 lol
is it okay to listen to this before reading the book?
No
Absolutely not
I did, it fine
100% no. Read the book.
This podcast isn’t going to vanish; read the book first if only to avoid spoilers. It probably won’t hurt to listen to this first but there’s no need to rush. Read the book!
Who will play which characters in the inevitable film adaptation? I can see James franco playing Rob Cohen and David koechner playing walden.
Check out my Nico theory on BANG
Give us the TLDR
Just finished both the book and the podcast. Liked it a lot. Thank you!
Can’t wait to listen! I got the book as soon as it came out and couldn’t put it down, Marty has truly produced a tour de force and a staple of nationalist fiction.
I consider myself a staunch, avid and ardent hyperpodcastist from the borzoist enochian school
You are a Hyperpodcastizo
oh gawd :/
Hyperpodcastizo Futurism
Fighting the urge to listen to this before I’ve read the book. I’m only a couple of chapters in atm.
wait hotty or haughty? #WhyNotBoth
This is the first fiction book I’ve read in years and it did not disappoint. I couldn’t put it down!
No big-brain takes, just a strong recommendation.
Well done, Marty
Hell yeah been waiting for this. Marty, your book is great and I’ve bought it for a couple friends and rec’d it to the rest. SPOILERS There’s a lot of depth to every aspect of the novel–and I can’t detail my many thoughts here–but one of the things that struck me the most was how we left the character of Rob. He spends 3 days around people who genuinely tried to share their beliefs with him and show him hospitality and he conveyed nothing but disdain and skepticism. At best, he just tried to mask his disdain. (And his skepticism… Read more »
It’s really a testament to Marty’s talent that he can make a story with a literal small-souled bugman as it’s narrator such an engrossing read.
I thought Marty was Borzoi this entire time!
Gonna hold off on listening to this until my copy gets delivered
Just taking a peek for the AH link, will return for a listen at a later date.
Awesome, think I’ll finish reading the book somewhere this week and looking forward to listening to this afterwards. Great work so far.
I’ve waited a long time for this, and the best part is it being the episode that ends the long hiatus of Hyperpodcastism at that!
Fuck yeah! I missed hyperpodcastism!
