The soldier will not get a dishonorable discharge, that requires a general court martial and as you said the equivalent of serious felony charges. Even in clown world there isn’t any existing charge they can use that rises to that level. They will push him out on an other than honorable, or a bad conduct discharge at worst (but even that requires a court martial so he would have a lawyer and defense etc)
