When it comes to Carbon Monoxide, the Third Reich was fucking swimming in CO-generators. Every civilian vehicle in central Europe was powered by carbon-monoxide. Operation Reinhart officials could have requisitioned a wood-gas generator from literally anywhere for practically nothing. Those things produced thousands of times more CO than a diesel engine of any size. There was one on every farm truck and passenger car during the entirety of the war.
