I want to point out that McDonald’s was originally hand made food. The fries were cut and cooked fresh. The burgers started off handmade, then they started using cookie cutters, then much later made them in factories.

Another practice Microsoft was engaging in was prohibiting retailers from selling Windows PCs with a competitor’s browser installed. All of this was a dog and pony show though. The actual shot was to have Microsoft playing ball with the US foreign and domestic intelligence services, particularly the NSA.
They also string armed OEM manufacturers to not sell computers with any other operating system. Linux was starting to come into its own and there was OS/2 Warp that were, for all intents and purposes, not allowed to be sold if the manufacturer wanted to also sell windows. The other thing they did was break standards in the client server realm, so that you were forced to use a windows client with Microsoft servers.
