Even though I don’t like Phish or the Dead, I must admit it is pretty damn white to go to the high effort to trade bootlegs via internet message boards back in the day. I’ve always loved bootleg albums. Also very white.
I just early life’d Garcia (not jewish), but even if he were, he had a deep respect for (White) Americana music. I was a bit of 90’s era hippie, so I have an affinity for the Dead. I like a few Phish songs and can appreciate their musicianship, but am not a superfan.
I wore tan, Bob Weir short-shorts just about every day in high school.
The Dead, in hindsight, are a bit of a mixed bag, though, and there’s some intriguing CIA/MK-Ultra-tier conspiracy relating to them that I haven’t dug too far into yet…
