There is a genetic hypothesis for homosexuality in men with some level of evidence.
There are genes present disproportionately in gay men that when found in women push them towards behaviours which further their fecundity.
The gene persists because the daughters benefit so much it compensates for making men gay.
Good riddance.
The most convincing hypothesis for the persistence of homosexuality in our species is that the apparent homosexual becomes a trusted ward of harem women for high status males and knocks one of them up sometimes. These things are highly speculative but for whatever reason, it does seem like homosexuality’s hard to breed out in our species.
Quite what society does with that is an open question, but it seems to me at least that European societies more or less had it solved in the period 1600 to 1940.

There’s a theory why jews are so gay. There is indirect evidence homosexuality is connected to the mother’s low sun exposure while pregnant. (Gays tend to be born in early summer and from urban background). Since jews are all urban and do white collar desktop jobs, it makes sense they should be more gay.
