Funny thing, if you check geologic maps of poland, there are no prominent ash layers mapped which would be useful for relative dating of strata. Having an ash layer which can be absolutely placed in time is an absolute gold mine for geologists, no matter when it was deposited. We use ash layers in the states from known volcanic eruptions for correlation. Either the ash layer isn’t there or I need to start coming up with Polack geology jokes.
