Expanding on previous episodes in the series, including American Coup D'Etat (a primer for the series), American Mephistopheles (Hamilton Deep-Dive), and American Ozymandias (Jefferson Deep-Dive), this episode is a survey of the cultural and political context in which Franklin lived, his many contributions, especially in the field of science and Pre-Revolutionary American populism, as well as his faults and unfortunate associations. Just to be clear about the Paxton Boys they weren’t just murdering innocent Indians from other tribes JUST BECAUSE they were Indians. As the Paxton Boys pointed out AT THE TIME these other Indian tribes were collaborating with the hostiles on the frontier and providing them with intelligence. In my case I wanted to shorten senate terms to four years with half the senate up for election every two years. I also wanted to change the electoral college so that the house votes went to the candidate who won the district as well as putting term limits on federal judges. 2 years for district judges, 4 years for appeals court judges and 6 years for supreme court justices. I didn’t want them to have ANY security! I’m not sure if my proposals are right or left wing but nevertheless.
Even though the 17th amendment is against the constitution, what difference does it that have the people vote for the sentor instead of the state legislators.

And I should say that yes it’s strange that a scorpion and an eagle should represent the same zodiac sign (fixed/immutable sign of water), but that’s just how it is. I believe the eagle is from alchemical traditions and represents the stage of distillation, but don’t quote me on that. Similarly, you might think aquarius would be a water sign, but it’s not! It’s an air sign.
All this is easy to verify. I think there is probably esoteric symbolism built into America. Just like a family crest.
