I lied again. The US Is NOT a signatory to the international convention against cluster munitions. Neither is Israel, but no one ever expects them to be. I don’t know if the US uses them anymore, but the frikkin Jews sure do. The US says that it won’t sign the treaty because it should be added to the general convention on certain conventional weapons and not be its own treaty, but that feels like some pilpul to protect Israel. Of course. Russia is not a signatory either.
I’m fairly certain we haven’t used them for about 15 years. I remember reading about them being used in Yemen around 2010 but outside of that I think the invasion of Iraq was the last time they were used in any kind of numbers.
The US is also not a signatory of the Geneva convention. The prohibition of US forces on hollow point rifle ammunition, and other things covered is at “our” discretion.

The Syrians haven’t shot down an F-35 but they did shoot down an Israeli F-16 that had extra countermeasures upgrades. The thing crashed next to a highway in Israel so the Jews couldn’t lie about it. Israel has used the F-35 in combat missions but they’re mostly firing from Lebanese airspace which makes it really difficult for Syria to effectively attack them but it also makes their attacks far less effective.
JSF = Joint Strike Fighter….pretty sure it’s the concept they came up with which combines a fighter (F-16), a strike plane (F-15E), and low and slow flying tank type planes like the A-10. Basically they tried to make one plane do everything and according to most people it now does nothing well.
It is a badass plane, bro. They also have different versions, like one with conventional take off and one with vertical take-off. Even with one engine it can still hold its own against some of the best fighters. It is also much stealthier and has much better electronic warfare capabilities….etc etc. Even its single engine is massive, it pumps out about as much thrust as both engines on the F-15 in afterburning does.
