Borzoi, McNabb, Dogbot, and Greg Conte discuss the failure of satire in the film Starship Troopers, the confused messaging of Paul Verhoeven, and why its sincere depiction of war and duty is aspirational.

Intro is Vapor Lounge off Grim Omen. Ending song is Antisocial Network
I was a little disappointed Dogbot didn’t request a single photo of the alleged “Queen” bug’s pedipalps.
We get 1 pro fascist movie a decade. Top gun, starship troopers, 300, blade runner 2049
The satire is everyone becomes a Nazi when an existential threat appears. The movie would have been more satirical if one of the newsreports would have show an anti-war protest/riot just detroyed by a counter-mob.
Great show.
its been too long since ive heard conte. good to have him back
So cool to hear Conte again. I’d love to see him as a permanent voice in the network.
When i was a young lad me and my friend used to watch it every time we saw each other. Stopped after a while, but we seen it at least 20 times. At one point we knew almost every line of the movie. good times.
Carmen’s bobs and vagene are temporary, Federation is eternal.
“Pog” is pronounced as if the “o” is the same as the o in “row” or “oh” or “show.” Semper Fi.
Like pogrom?

I do a shit post raid group based on SST, and I love it. Too much fun dropping nuke memes on unsuspecting groups of tards.

Please do a Poz Button of Star Trek 2, the Wrath of Khan.
I bought the book the very next day.
The only time Lizz Winstead was ever funny was referring to NPH as “Doogie Himmler” on the old Craig Kilborn Daily Show.
Whats funny about the film is how Aryan Buenos Aires is. You would just think it was pre-brown Los Angeles if they didn’t tell you it was South America almost as if whites took over the world and made it nice
Re: Satire v. Not The point about this type of society being the only reasonable response and the liberal copes it brings about is well-made. This brought to mind The Man in the High Castle. The tragic aspects had to be applied so heavy handedly because the (white) viewer finds finds his or herself longing for such an ordered and dignified society. One with a sense of purpose and free of uppity blacks. I’m sure there are many examples of this, but characters in lib shows betray the same undercurrent of thought…thought that they pretend to oppose: Alex Keaton, Jack… Read more »
This is why I believe so many young right wing whites are drawn to anime. Japan is a monoracial peaceful society, and the Japanese are almost all drawn to appear white-ish.
On top of that, anime is virtually free of Jewish influence, and thus despite occasional bouts of degeneracy, anime is never pozzed, thus reifying the fantasy of what a peaceful white society free of diversity (in the modern sense) can look like.
RICO, YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO!
*loads nuke with malicious intent*
Probably the greatest Guardsmen regiment in 40k would have to be the Death Korps of Krieg
Oh fuck yeah! Starship Troopers always lifts my spirits and gets me riled-up in just the right way!
Showgirls was also a Paul Verhoeven film
That name sounds familiar but I can’t place it?…
The 2 computer animated films are pretty good. I think the first one is Starship Troopers Invasion and the second one is Traitor of Mars. The world is more accurate to the book. They actually have power armor and are clearly made by the Japanese
Satire? Our reality is more fake and depressing than the movie. The movie is real and aspirational.
I un ironical love the society in the movie
it’s afraid
IM FROM BUENOS ARIES AND I SAY ROCK EM ALL
Thanks for labeling your mp3 files something other than random strings of letters and numbers. It helps in filing away TRS all shows content in separate folders.
Ya alot of the older stuff is like that it is a pain
Thanks Borzoi. Also cool to see Conte again.
I first watched StarShip Troopers late at night in the 7th grade when I was supposed to be sleeping. I instantly liked it and absorbed unironically a lot of lessons from the movie. Loved that the sky Marshall was replaced, the criminal sentenced without bullshit and that the right to vote had to be earned. I internalised the statement that politics is violence and enforced by violence, and agreed with it. This and the book series The Tomorrow Series (tldr Australian red Dawn with Asian invaders) were defining works as I grew up. Aside from those lessons the movie is… Read more »
Denise Richards made this show a 40x re-watch for all 13yr old boys.
