Borzoi, Nike, and McNabb talk about Guy Debord's Society of the Spectacle and the sequel Comments on the Society of the Spectacle and get into topics such as neofeudalism, the commodification of time, capitalism's reality warping power, and the limits of post-Marxist analysis.

Very nice fellas! I’m keeping my rock held close in my f-350 incase I see McNabb cycling. JK keep up the good work!
Looking forward to listening to this in the workplace tomorrow. Thanks Borzoi. These have been great content.
“absurd autopsies performed by extraordinary experts” — I thought of the professional expert witness M.D.’s skype autopsy of Saint Floyd of Fentanyl.
When I get tired of Mike’s lies ™ I come here for the biggest brains on TRS.
Really enjoyed this episode and this podcast in general. I listened to this episode twice and bought the books. Looking forward to Baudrillard next! ??
Great show guys, thanks for the work. Just want to make a point about symbols that cannot be recuperated, there is mounting evidence that old Hellenistic Gods like Jupiter and Apollo remain our enemies most feared boogeymen. The Rome that burned the temple is ultimately who they hold their deepest grudge against, even more than anyone recently. Thanks again for the show, really interesting commentary.
p.s. that ending song is killer
And in regards to neo-peasantry: I have had a similar thought recently about our situation on a more mundane political level. As a working class white person, especially those living out in the countryside, we live under a peasant-like status where the fruits of our labor go to someone completely detached from our existence, and any work to directly benefit our household is cordoned off to being done “on your own time.” With a commute and 40+ hours of your week spent doing work for a paycheck, we are practically slaves who own little and work a lot. In many… Read more »
In regards to: “Being normal is a revolutionary action.” “But it does not effect the change you want to see.” You can see a parallel between this argument and the story of the protagonist of Brave New World. All he did as his revolutionary act was reject the poison of his age and try to achieve something close to a normal life with a normal family. He ended up just becoming part of the spectacle (see shows like Swamp People, or the myriad of TV programs about people who live in the wilderness), and (iirc) committed suicide to escape it.… Read more »
Truth be told I tapped out on page 11, when does it git gud?
Well, I certainly feel better about giving up on Society Of the Spectacle half way through.
I don’t know if any of you guys have played it but I just got into Kojima’s new masterpiece Death Stranding and the entire thing seems to be themed on the Desert of the Real and social media addiction. And even the limited online interaction is themed on this.
Kojima is a visionary
I’m excited about you guys doing Marshall Mcluhan. He was one of my big early redpills during my salad days. Sam Hyde said something to that effect too if I’m remembering correctly.
I was thinking Mcluhan during this episode as well. But I find reading him a bit terse. Another easier style read in similar vain is Neil Postmans “Amusing Ourselves to Death”
@borzoi I recently watched an episode of PK Dick’s Amazon series called “Autofac” that may be a worthy companion to your Capitalist Realism edition of the podcast.
Thank you for this. Really helps me get through these slave like hours I work.
The dissident right appropriates “spectacular” as a description of modern problems that will confuse the shit out of people.
Borzoi, my goy – I am loving these. Provides some context to the issues this great network focuses on.
SPECTACLE
HUMILIATION
BAUDRILLARD
Soon there will be a Dissident Right Dictionary full of Borzoi $10 words for newcomers to understand
Borzoi LIED at the end. Says Rick Roderick had an Alabama accent when it was clearly a TEXAS accent.
