Personally I not too black pilled over this, recently had people at work (older Labour voters and a Pole) talking about this at their desks and saying that this George F was a criminal and going on about his prior activities, also pointing out that white people have died from the same restraint method and how hypocritical it is too protest and riot about a black guy but not a white one. Being popular is less important than having the will to push back.
The Art of War does indeed say that when you are strong appear weak, but that is in the greater context of concealing your true strength from enemy intelligence while making effective use of your own spies and scouts to determine accurate information yourself.
Aside from very specific circumstances when you are trying to lure your opponent into a trap, it is never wise to appear weak.
You generally want to appear as strong as possible to engerize your supporters and to demoralize, frustrate and scare you enemies.
I think what it does say in TAOW is “appear weak where you are strong and strong where you are weak”, so your enemy attacks you where you are strongest.
I believe that you are correct but I am not the biggest fan of TAoW even when I red it for the first time over 10 years ago. Many concepts in the text are fairly obvious and known by people who take warfare or grand strategy seriously but it gets sold to midwits as some kind of text full of profound mystical Eastern knowledge.
The masses are but a part of Nature herself. Their wish is to see the stronger side win and the weaker wiped out, or subjected unconditionally to the will of the stronger.
