IMO Covington was a more talented writer than Pierce and created a much more coherent and believable universe in his books. Unfortunate that they are largely ignored and forgotten due to chauvinistic WNs refusing to even read fiction that is based around White Separatism.
There’s an element of WN 1.0 infighting to do with all that as well. Covington called out many of the prominent figures (such as the “Old Man” and his ducks). His books other than the quintet are a good read as well, and some loosely tie into the series.

I have a small three door box planter of lettuce and if I carefully manage how much I pick and when, it will last me and my son through October. Lettuce is a good bang for your square foot.
