Bubba Wallace isn’t even good. No wins. 2 top 5 finishes in 4 seasons driving the team petty #43 (literally one of the two best performing cars and two best pit crews in NASCAR). I’m guessing he kept his job bc he’s the token and the Air Force is the sponsor so General Goldfein probably demanded he keep driving for team petty to keep getting them AF bucks
Personally I think he sees the writing on the wall. With General Chuck leaving the new black commander is going to go, “We spending how much for an Uncle Tom to race?!”, cancel the sponsorship, then Bubba will lose his car and can get out and make money talking Shit about the fan base and about how he actually lost all the time because systemic racism and his car wasn’t as good.

Daytona and Dega are crapshoots. The wives hate them bc they know the big one is coming. Any newer drivers who don’t have cars that can actually shoot it out with the Petty/Earnhardt cars (or anything else with a Gibbs engine) are told by their coaches to stay back and count on jumping 20 spots in the last 5 laps. Bubba was probably so far back he was able to cruise through the wreckage. Lol.
