DC (Edison) was a horrible option for transmitting electricity. At the time, it could have been transmitted at high voltages (over 600 V which doesn’t need large wires), but could not have been transformed down to usable voltages (our 120V). DC voltages cannot be induced, because they are not variable over time. Induction is unnecessary to transform voltages up and down. A DC power grid would require prohibitively large cables. AC is a time varying voltage that can be changed from large voltages, say 13200V, which can be transmitted on relatively small cables, and then be “stepped down” to our… Read more »
I can’t wait to listen at work tomorrow! Thank you guys o/
or as striker would pronounce it: the presstidge
McNabb and Apache are great poz button guests. I also enjoy anytime Sven comes on. Mike (!) not so much.

…I just want some grug-caliber film-bashing, and maybe the ocassional speculation on using the Tesla gadget to clone /ourguys/….but now my brain just hurts.
Looking forward to the Poz Panel’s speculations on Tesla. Will Borzoi say “Bowie was a weird choice but turned out to be brilliant in the role”? Will the Pozzers comment that Tesla IRL was something of a stage magician and the film is a dark reflection of that? I should have drafted a drinking game for this episode.
All popular conspiracies and folk tales about Tesla are false, btw. But there are still a few mysteries concerning his work. Read “Radio Tesla” by George Trinkhaus if you want to know what these are (Spoiler: technical and possibly boring.)
I think the RSS is broken. At about one hour, the show repeats from the freudian conversation.
I thought this was a good movie when I saw in the aughts. Looking forward to the show…
It’s the better one of the two,”Magic! Is it real?” movies competing for our attention at the time.
The Illusionist is a damned fine film in it’s own right. Granted, it’s about a guy named Eisenheim, plus it’s got Jessica Biel. And F The Paranormies. She’s no trannie (that was a beclowning episode for them)
The Illusionist was a damn good flick.
Hail the Choctaw Princess. Johnny is just mad she could take him. I’d make her queen of my Red Div.
