Thank you Borzoi I like you more then Sven and thats saying something since Sven is the best.
Thanks Borzoi (and Morgoth). “Best ever” is for someone else to judge, but that was my favorite Poz Button ever. A great listen for us social distancers!!!
One of the reasons that the North was disfigured by so many brutalist buildings during the sixties and early seventies, was that a architect called John Paulson used to bribe bribe politicians and civil servants in order to win building contracts. Paulson was a Freemason who stated out in the West Riding of Yorkshire. He quickly built up contacts especially within the Labour party. One of the Labour politicians he had in his pocket was a guy called T Dan Smith. Smith was the leader of Newcastle City Council, Morgoth’s neck of the woods. Great show, bit surreal hearing a podcast about my home county .
Morgoth as usual is pretty bang on with his commentary, on the politics, social mood of Yorkshire, of the north and the rest of the country, but, I just have to say , despite my best efforts to suppress the little sperg in me , I have point out Manchester, Burnley, Rochdale and Oldham are on the other side of the pennines in Lancashire.
It’s kinda split to be honest; there’s a few who definitely see themselves as something special, there’s some who’d no doubt tell you they were Lancastrians for whatever reason, but there’s a LOT of people in Manchester and the immediate area who really are indistinguishable culturally from Yorkshire people. In fact a little trip across from Rotherham to Manchester and back is no huge deal (literally an hour by car, maximum, and it’s hilly everywhere so the roads across those daunting mountains are just nothing – steeper in and around Wakefield), used to go to gigs that way when I… Read more »
I don’t know what any of this stuff is that they’re going to be talking about, but I love Morgoth, so this is gonna be great!
It’s beautiful. I love how you can relate to so many different people in so many different ways. You’re the TRS glue Borzoi. *sniffs*
Really excited to listen, my family on the dads side lived in Yorkshire for many years before moving onto Darby. As a L*nd*nite who has grown up in the states should be interesting to learn something about cultural works regarding a place I never knew.
Fuck yeah, Morgoth!
If we get TrumpBux Borzoi just needs to start cranking out donation episodes. What did you spend your TrumpBux on? Racist movie podcasts, obviously.
I suppose this might make more sense to me if I watch this red riding trilogy before hand
