Yes, a decoupling is necessary, but while that is taking place, the U.S. govt should have eased the pain on small farmers through subsidies, tax credits, etc. They *did* for big, institutional ag, but didn’t for small farmers- the end result is Big Ag buying up small farms and consolidating power while receiving government subsidy, and small farms often literally dying off.

Years ago, I was visiting Monroe’s home, and in those days the saucers under the cups were somewhat more like bowls, and you would drink the hot beverage (so the docent told us) by spilling the liquid into the somewhat bowl-like saucer, and sipping it out of there. Today’s saucer’s are much flatter, and we no longer drink out of them. Just a bit of color to note.
