I think Sam Dickson is a fine man who is occasionally wrong about things, as he is in this instance.

Not only have I been given the honor of appearing on Myth20C four or five times, I actually listen to that excellent programme, as well. So, I know he said it there.
I don’t care if he said it on the Today Show or on Romper Room. It simply isn’t true, and he’s mistaken in that regard.

Sam Dickinson did a Jim goad show awhile back, maybe last yr. Worth listening to, Dickinson is indeed a great man with a lot to say.

Does anyone have any logical and coherent arguments against polygyny(male with several females, there are no solid arguments FOR the reverse scenario) that doesn’t involve “muh christun valoos” or referencing what our ancestors did 1000s of years ago? I agree with ethnarc’s response generally. But the best argument I know of for monogamy is that it is better for society overall. Polygamy means lots of lesser men won’t get a partner, which means there will be a lot of frustrated men. In an ideal society almost everyone pairs up and has families. It seems obvious this is also a better environment in which to raise good kids – one mom and one dad. I was in South Africa and Zimbabwe back in 2003 when it was still relatively safe (compared to now). I went to Johannesburg and Cape Town. Cape Town is a very beautiful city. The places in SA which were white were immaculate and simply magical to be around as an early 20-something. Not to mention the animal preserves run by white folk. SA needs to be reclaimed and gentrified.
